AiSoar hydraulics offers single acting hydraulic cylinders with drilled holes both on base ends and rod ends, designed for snowplow equipment. Why does the single action cylinder have two ports? You need air to get in for the cylinder to work. Depends on which way you want the cylinder to work to push or pull. You can always get a vent to put in the empty hole that will allow air in and dirt out.
For the single acting hydraulic cylinder, the first technical parameter we need to determine is the rod size, and we would get the required force (Column Load) based on specific working pressure. We also need to get the stroke, the retracted center length and other sizes.

Q: What is the difference between double acting and single acting cylinders?
A: Double-Acting-have a port at each end, supplied with hydraulic fluid for both the retraction and extension. Single-Acting-hydraulic fluid enters through a port at one end of the cylinder, which extends the rod by means of area difference. An external force or gravity returns the piston rod.
